Reading Street and Calle de la Lectura Texas are an innovative and adaptable approach to teaching reading in today's classroom. Reading Street and Calle de la Lectura Texas were built around the Understanding by Design framework. Teachers will find a correlation to the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) test, DIBELS, and Texas Primary Reading Inventory (TPRI).
At all grades, the Reading Street and Calle de la Lectura Texas Student Edition is the heart and soul of both programs. All instruction is centered on the literature. Every week, students will read fiction and non-fiction, classics and soon to be classics. Compelling literature promotes critical thinking, cultural awareness, and an opportunity to apply new skills and strategies.
Teachers can find a multitude of resources in the ELL Handbook. This handbook provides excellent visual on-ramps for building background in concepts and vocabulary beginning in the Student Edition. Teachers will also find these on-ramps in the two ELL libraries that serve the full range of English Language Proficiencies.
